Marcel Proust & Anthony Powell

Marcel Proust’s Search for Lost Time summarizes all seven volumes of Marcel Proust’s great novel, In Search of Lost Time. It also describes fifty of the most important characters and a biography of the author, as well as the social, political and religious background to the novel such as the Dreyfus Affair.

A Dance to Lost Time compares the French author Marcel Proust and his novel, with the English author Anthony Powell and his twelve volume novel A Dance to the Music of Time. Again, in addition to the authors’ biographies, the book summarizes the plots and major characters as well as discussing the social and political backgrounds to both great works.

Just as the British comedy team, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, famously held a “Summarize Proust competition (which was eventually won by the girl with the largest breasts), the following video is my attempt to summarize Proust in less than six minutes.

In addition to the video summary, for a few years I also posted 4 or 5 daily Tweets on X - back when it was named Twitter. I managed to summarize all seven volumes twice. Click here.)
